Knop Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Hello everyone, I'm looking for the slab serif font used for the letters "HOUSE PARTY" and "The ultimate megamix". I think it was a pretty common font back then, but I can't remember what it was. Some notes: - This cover was designed around 1990 by a Dutch design agency and the font is used throughout the series, throughout the 1990s. - The font on 'House party' is obviously stretched vertically (a very common practice in the 90s). The "S" pops out. - "The ultimate megamix" seems a bit stretched as well I'm also interested in the fonts used for the song titles, but I think I can find them myself. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Riccardo Sartori Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 It looks like a (compressed and stretched) typeface designed by Neville Brody. The closest I could find is Insigna, née Arena (using some alternates, like |E|), which however has straight terminals on the serifs, and the |S| (and perhaps the weight) from Typeface Six. 1
Kevin Thompson Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Broadband is also quite similar, save for the A.
Knop Posted May 9, 2022 Author Posted May 9, 2022 Thanks for these suggestions. I'm beginning to suspect it might be tailor-made after all. Some slight modifications... I don't know. However; good tips. If anyone knows more, I'd still like to hear it of course.
