vivicitynyc Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Happy 2023! I'm looking for a font or fonts with typeforms that are similar to the ones in the hand-chiseled lettering in the image. Condensed, wedge serif, C with just a serif at the top, low crossbar A and R. The LTON part is more commonly found in existing fonts. I have found revival fonts such as Enge Journal Antiqua and Schmale Mediaeval to have some of these characteristics, but wondering if anything else comes closer?
Riccardo Sartori Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 I wasn’t able to find anything useful, but just stumbled upon Margherita, that has similar characteristics but unfortunately not very refined serifs. 1
vivicitynyc Posted January 3, 2023 Author Posted January 3, 2023 Thank you @Riccardo Sartori– I may have to draw my own...
MissNobody Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 It might be a bit overkill, but I tried DeepVecFont to synthetize missing glyphs from existing few, and it works reasonable well. Just to let you know it's an option. You can convert CARLTON to SVG glyphs, and use them as an input. You can also pick some fitting few from Margherita @Riccardo Sartori suggested, and include them to generate lower case. 1
vivicitynyc Posted January 3, 2023 Author Posted January 3, 2023 Thank you @MissNobody - fascinating! I may have to explore this further...
