Marcus S. Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Hi all. I am looking for the typeface of the title INTRODUCTIO. I believe it is some version of Garamond but I can not fine one with the very distinctive upper “U” where the serif seems to have been capped. It might be hidden in an alternative glyph. Could also be that serif on the paper was misprinted or got lost but I am pretty sure to have seen that “U” before. The printed size is appr. 100 points. Commercial font is fine. MissNobody Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 It's a letterpress, you would need to find a scan or conversion to a font. I'm not sure this would be done when there aren't all the letters available. The 'U' is very interesting indeed. 1
Marcus S. Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 I was hoping that someone might know whether this “U” was an stylistic alternative in some odd Garamond Version or anything like that. Guess I’ll have to do what Erik is always saying: “You just have to take what's there in your workshop.” including taking it from another font …
Marcus S. Posted January 27, 2023 Author Posted January 27, 2023 Ok, here is something I did not know which is a bit shameful because I should have known this: https://www.dictionary.com/e/theletteru/#:~:text=First%2C in the 1500s%2C Italian,it in his print shop.
mshiremanNK Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 Perhaps something like this: http://www.crazydiamond.co.uk/fonts/17c.html
