What is this font, displayed at the front of the school North Sydney Boys High School in Sydney, NSW, Australia

When was that created? Unless it was made recently (which I doubt), its probably not a font. 100 years ago fonts were just used for printing only. Letters on bigger signs, buildings, grave stones and so on were custom work. 

Yes, it is very old. I just need the closest font to the engraving as possible. 

Perhaps an artificially condensed Bookman or Century Old Style could fit the bill, or something in the same vein, like Cushing:
