Dear Typologists,

I am trying to date the type on this pedestal. I want it to be 1830 or even earlier 18th century.

The type on the pedestal is hand-painted; no way to date it based solely on the letter forms....

Agreed. That letterform style has been in use since the 18th century, but it can’t be narrowed enough this way. I’m afraid you have to find other clues to date this than the letterforms.
