I answered this same question on the WhatTheFont forum at myfonts.com five years ago:

Given the era [1950s], this logotype was custom/hand lettered, not typeset.

The best way to replicate the type is to locate the largest, highest resolution image of the nameplate you can find and have a competent graphic designer redraw/autotrace the letters in Adobe Illustrator. That would give you vector artwork that you could then print out or have made into a decal or vinyl appliqué.
