Dante's Inferno Old Book - Old Handwriting Font Identification

Featured Replies

Hello. I'm trying to get a close match to this old handwriting font that's from an old book 'Dante's Inferno.

I want it to look like this as if someone's handwritten it with a quill. Any suggestions? Thanks Jonathan

What you posted is just handwriting (not a font or typeface). The likelihood of finding a digital typeface that comes close to it is slim. Your sample seems more recent than 1304 (when Dante’s Inferno was written), so knowing its exact date might help us pinpoint a substitute more easily.

Vaguely similar: 1648 Chancellerie, 1610 Cancellaresca

Oldfonts.com features a number of typefaces meant to mimic handwriting from various eras, but their sources don’t go quite as far back as your sample seems to (they feature mostly late 18th, 19th century style script fonts). P22.com also features a number of typefaces based on historical handwriting.
