Which font did Restoration Hardware use – ages ago – for in-store labels?

Featured Replies

Before Restoration Hardware stores in the US became 'RH' only stocking posh home furnishings, they used to be these amazing places packed full of little and reasonably-priced accessories; things like egg timers, tools, toys, etc. From what I remember, each product was accompanied by a small label explaining its story. These were fun. I have a vague memory of the font they used, and I'd love to know what it was. In my mind it was a slab-serif in different weights, and I THINK it had a slightly 'rough' appearance. Not exactly hand-drawn, but almost. My description is lightweight, I know, but maybe someone will also remember the joy of these little labels, in what was for me a really fun store to visit. Thanks, folks!

Thanks so much, Ralf. Yes, I realise that I'm not being at all helpful by having no image to share. I did spend about an hour yesterday trying to find reference material on Google, and also via archive.org – but with no success, I'm afraid. I loved the point-of-sale material in Restoration Hardware so much, both for its design and its writing, so I hoped there might be someone here who shared my weird recollections! Thanks for your suggestions. I'll keep thinking...
