Font used on Colbert County Sheriff (Alabama) vehicles.......

Featured Replies

Hello again! I'm still creating digital versions of emergency vehicle liveries for use in video games. About a year and a half ago, had some great help on this forum with another project - hoping for some for the same with a new project now.

Looking to identify the main door text font on these vehicles -->> SHERIFF and COLBERT COUNTY is the primary design.......thought I would include the other pics to show some other letters in CHEROKEE and HEIGHTS. Initially, I thought this would be a really easy one to nail down......almost certain I have used it before - but, apparently not! Have scrolled through the fonts I have pre-installed on my graphics program.....no clear match. Seems to have elements of Impact Wide, Padaloma, and Helvetica. I've tried the usual AI font finders (was hoping these would be "square on" enough to work) without any luck. I'm almost leaning towards going with Helvetica Compressed, and just squishing it a bit flatter?

Thanks in advance!

Your instinct about Helvetica Compressed is spot-on, but I think Bitstream’s version—called Swiss 911—is a better match. And yes, you’ll need to compress it.

awesome!! Thank you very much........that Swiss 911 nailed it! I did end up using one of the "compressed" options in the font family, decreased the kerning about -10 (I think), and then manipulated/squished the text box vertically and horizontally - until I was happy with the look.

Here is the final result..........I think we are good! Thanks again.
