Looking for the original typeface from some 1940's family ephemera

Featured Replies

Howdy everyone,

I would love to see if anyone can place the original typeface used in some of my grandmother's calling cards from her high school friends. Other related typefaces are fine, but I was looking to find the original. I am currently designing a revival of the typeface and wanted to know more about the originale's history/references.

Some extra information on the ephemera

• From a smaller town in Texas in the 1940's

• Smaller town located in Texas near Louisiana – this tells me it was probably designed much earlier and made it to their local print shop

• Was replicated across many examples of her peer's calling cards (images included)

Any info, ideas, or references would be much appreciated in my hunt to know more about the typeface.

Cheers,

John

Appears to be from the Cronite Company, and called Houston No. 44.

I don’t think it has ever been digitized before, so looking forward to your revival.

Wow, thanks so much for the fast response on this. This is great to see and will help on the project.

Thanks again!
