I find interesting how this kind of approach, which is quite old, and seemed abandoned years ago, appears to be the “new thing” in type design.

Yeah, I found it funny to hear the audience cheering about every detail as if Adobe had just invented something new. 

In general, I do believe that this skeleton-based type design can actually work and produce sophisticated fonts of various font categories, however, that it would require so much controls that it would become very difficult to deal with. 

Of course it wasn’t a coincidence that the demo showed only caps and only a rather geometric design. This is were it works best. For anything else you will quickly run into all sorts of limitations.
