A comprehensive compendium of typographic wonders from Rian Hughes! Device Fonts, his type foundry, is turning 30. To mark this occasion, we’re launching Typeractive – a book collecting every font Device has ever released, and more besides.

ATypI Tech Talks is an event devoted to advances and innovation in technology, engineering, standards, formats, experimentation, tools, and other essential subjects related to type design, typography, font production, font formats, browsers, apps, web development, multiscript design, type education, type business, and more. ATypI Tech Talks will feature three days filled with presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and conversation.

Founded in 2014 and opened to the public in 2015, the San Francisco-based organization holds an extensive collection of 30,000 items ranging in age over 2,000 years.

The newest version 1.7 of the OpenType spec is fully equivalent to the ISO/IEC 14496-22:2015 (3rd edition) “Open Font Format” standard. The standard will be published in June 2015 and at that time will be freely available for download from the ISO website.

The TDC Beatrice Warde Scholarship is sponsored by the Type Directors Club and Monotype in the amount of $5,000 and will be awarded to a female student currently enrolled in her junior undergraduate year to be applied directly to her senior year tuition, which begins September 2015 and concludes in May 2016.
