Member Rya…
This topic was imported from the Typophile platform OK, I'm not trying to say I'm in love with this face or anything like that. But this is probably one of the best documentations of a type design I've ever seen, and it's interesting to see someone else's process. http://www.typographyserved.com/gallery/Modernline-San-Serif-Typeface/41... Member hra…
Without text it can't be very thorough documentation. BTW there's a point in that development where he seems to give up making the dorky letters behave and starts modifying an existing accomplished design... :-/ You should get a copy of the 16-page booklet detailing Haas Unica's development. hhp Link to comment

Member hra…
Look at the suspiciously large variance in quality among the glyphs here:http://behance.vo.llnwd.net/profiles18/1228291/projects/4160315/956ad5ba... BTW the spacing is way too tight. hhp Link to comment
Member Typ…
@hrant can you post the link for haas unica's development? I googled but could not get anything Link to comment
Member hra…
It's a print document. hhp Link to comment
Member Rya…
idk, Hrant, it's possible they just took a long time off, continued thinking about it in their minds, and came back with a clearer vision. The biggest problem I have with the face is that it is too Helvetica-esque. But on the whole, there is a woeful lack of good documentation of actual type design as it progresses out there. Member hra…
Ah, I'd sent Michael Hernan a photocopy of the Unica thing back in 2006... I see he put it to some use there! :-) Actually I think I'd seen that before, but my memory isn't what it used to be... hhp Link to comment
Member Max…
Thought it was a PDF file. A 14-page PDF of that account published in Typographische Monatsblätter can be found here. It’s not searchable, though. Link to comment
Member Té…
@Ryan – I think 'print' has something to do with bookshops, but I have been mistaken before... Link to comment
Member Nic…
Right now my process involves drinking a cup of coffee, answering the occasional email—and goofing off at Typophile. Link to comment
Member Rya…
Books have been outlawed by the digerati. We are only allowed to read off screens from now on. On the positive side, sticking true to my (somewhat) German roots, I am organizing an eBook Burning for this year's winter solstice. Come one, come all!! Link to comment
