Gill Sans Web Font alternatives

This topic was imported from the Typophile platform

Hello All,

Looking for a web font that is similar to Gill Sans/Johnston but designed for screens and specifically without the lower-case l that looks like I and 1. I have looked at Agenda and pretty much like it, but am curious if their are other faces in this style that should be considered.

Thanks
-Moe

Just found out about Gill's kids and dog... Kind of hard for me to want to use any of his fonts anymore...

Thanks Pablo, Cabin is some nice work!

While looking around I also found Lato which looks like it might work for me.

Ryan, I had no idea about Eric Gill's personal life. That's really messed up. That way overshadows gripes about him copying Johnston!

Haha, thanks Tillman, you beat me to it!

You may find this older Typophile discussion of the matter interesting, or not...

Yeah, probably won't read that. I wish I could erase this information from my mind actually. But I do appreciate it.

Gill didn't copy Johnston, they were collaborators and worked on the Underground typeface together in its early stages of development for quite some time. IIRC, Johnston wanted to give Gill joint credit, but Gill said not to worry about it.
