Sans-serif heading font that compliments Dolly (serif) body font?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I was hoping to get some advice for which sans-serif font would work well as a heading (for chapters and subchapters) next to a Dolly body font.

So far the only sans-serif fonts that I've been able to find that are not too bad are coolvetica (top) and bloomsburg (bottom). See pic for an example.

But for some reason, neither of those fonts really hits the spot for me... not sure why. I'm trying to go for a casual/fun/refreshing feel, but still looking compatible with the Dolly body.

Given that Dolly is a pretty sturdy serif, in this case I would focus on what you need from the sans, before thinking about compatibility.

For a “casual/fun/refreshing feel” I would try an expressive typeface, perhaps something in the vein of Sporting Grotesque.

Any further suggestion would need more information, such as budget/availability, and so on.

Thanks for the suggestion Riccardo. I had a look at Sporting Groteque, but I feel like it's a bit too crazy. For the casual/fun/refreshing feel, I really meant in an extremely subtle way, not exaggerated. I really just want a nice normal looking sans-serif that isn't too professional, harsh (sharp edges), or boring, with a similar (or compatible) square/sturdyness of Dolly.

I'd need to get a license for paperback printing, preferably no more than $200.

Thanks Kevin. Those two definitely look closer to what I had in mind.
