I am trying to find if there are any documents shedding light on how Albrecht Durer to arrived at his methodology pertaining to the proper composition of Blackletter in his Unter weysung der Messung. I am specifically looking for any exposure he may have had to Arabesque art and calligraphy that may have arrived from the east.

Any guidance, tips or resources will be appreciated.
