Dive into the works created by Louise E. Jefferson, a Black woman cartographer, calligrapher, illustrator, graphic designer, and author.

Drawing on the estate of Louise E. Jefferson (1908–2002), which lives in the archives at the Amistad Research Center at Tulane University in New Orleans, this lecture will take a detailed look at the type choices, lettering, and calligraphy incorporated in the various design projects Louise produced throughout her career.

Letterform Lectures are a public aspect of the Type West postgraduate program. The series is co-presented by the San Francisco Public Library, where events are free and open to all.
