Solution Kevin Thompson Posted June 12, 2020 Solution Posted June 12, 2020 MARINE, BATTALION, and FDNY (the last only if you vertically compress the letters) appear to be Amarillo USAF. No luck with CHIEF yet....
FDNY_Coop Posted June 12, 2020 Author Posted June 12, 2020 Here’s a better image to try and use for the “CHIEF”
Kevin Thompson Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Sorry, but the first and second images don’t use the same type for CHIEF (similar, but not identical). 1
Kevin Thompson Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 CHIEF in both images seems to be based on old wood type (19th century) styles, but not finding a match for either the serif version (first image) or sans serif version (second image). For a similar sans serif with spurs, try Spurwood JNL.
Riccardo Sartori Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 I suspect the spurs on both “CHIEF”s are an addition by the designer (at least the top ones).
Gecko Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 Guys I just came across this "Davison Americana" an early Agfa typeface. Obviously someone started out with a slab serif and added the spurs, probably inspired by this Agfa typeface. https://www.myfonts.com/search/DavisonAmericana/
