jwoodford Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Hi there, I'm sure this has been asked a bazillion number of times but I'm looking for the font pictured, not the main title/logo. Need to create a one-off 90s inspired b-day card for a colleague and I know it's her favourite show. Free alternatives also welcome but the most common one I can find looks nothing like the original - but beggars can't be choosers. Thanks in advance Joel https://www.artofthetitle.com/title/the-fresh-prince-of-bel-air/
Solution Kevin Thompson Posted August 25, 2020 Solution Posted August 25, 2020 Sorry, but all the type you see in these opening titles was hand-lettered, not typeset. Similar—LuaFnt, Handage AOE, Happy Times, Close Hand
jwoodford Posted August 25, 2020 Author Posted August 25, 2020 Are you sure? The letters all look pretty consistent with eachother, figured it was a font. That is some pretty incredible effort if not. 2 hours ago, Kevin Thompson said: Sorry, but all the type you see in these opening titles was hand-lettered, not typeset. Kevin Thompson Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 I’m not seeing any repeating letters that are exact matches to one another, and given that this work predates the sort of alternate glyphs you can get in today’s OpenType format typefaces, it is most definitely lettering.

jwoodford Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 Just in case anyone is interested, Handage AOE provided the verticality and narrow character width I was looking for, probably the best match of the suggestions in my opinion. Thanks Kevin. 1
