PandzaMan Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Hi all, firstly apologies for the poor quality photo but unfortunately it's the only one we have. My mother in-law passed away last Christmas and my wife's family are looking to get her details added to the family gravestone. Unfortunately the company that did the original gravestone (for their father) is no longer in business (1980's) so records of the font originally used aren't available. Having performed various searches online through What the font and similar, I have been unable to find a match. Notable letters seem to be the 'C" and 'G' and 'S', also the number '5' doesn't come up in any visual searches at all for any font. Quite a strange font as the exterior corners/angles of the font seem to have very slight mitres whist inside they're very sharp! I realise it's a bit of a stretch but if any 'Fontophiles' out there have any ideas it would be very very much appreciated by the family so we can try to get a match. All advice and input welcome. Many Thanks Ade
Kevin Thompson Posted 51 minutes ago Posted 51 minutes ago Unfortunately, given the date of the original this is likely to be type specific to the monument/gravestone industry, and not a typeface that was used for print or digital projects (which is the focus of this board). Monument Lettering Center sells digital versions of proprietary gravestone typefaces, but your sample is not a match to any of the Gothics in their library (similar, though). The site also has a forum where you can post your image and get an ID, and you'd likely have a better chance of identification there.
