JAW Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 I'm trying to identify the typeface in this attached photo so I can match it in a new graphic. It's printed on fabric, which makes the letterforms a little hard to see clearly. I've looked at some of the usual suspects for bold or black condensed or compressed sans serifs (Impact, Helvetica, Univers, Franklin Gothic) but haven't identified a match. Some of the characters I'm focusing in on are the A, C, R, S, U, G, M, & and all four of the numbers in 1946. The closest I've come so far are Permanent Headline and Eurostile Condensed Bold, but neither one is quite the same. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks! https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/urw/permanent/ https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/linotype/eurostile-lt/pro-condensed-bold/
JAW Posted June 26, 2018 Author Posted June 26, 2018 P.S. One more that it's not quite is Compacta. Very close, but the 4 is different.
Solution Kevin Thompson Posted June 26, 2018 Solution Posted June 26, 2018 I suspect that the artwork actually predates the t-shirt by decades. Might be Permanent Massiv, but it's not had a digital revival that has been released for sale. Permanent Headline might be your best substitute.
JAW Posted June 26, 2018 Author Posted June 26, 2018 Thanks, Kevin. I suspect you're right that the artwork goes back quite a few years....decades. I appreciate your help and I agree that Permanent Headline is going to be the closest substitute, and certainly good enough for this use. We can mark this one Answered. Cheers!
