Liquor Store Neon Sign

Hey guys,

this seems to be a pretty common sign around Atlanta, GA. I actually have a neon sign maker friend and he said he thinks it was a font developed to create high visibility while staying within height and width parameters set but the city for alcohol sales signage, but he did not know if it had a name or a full alphabet. But there does seem to be an italics variation. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks, J

Interesting story, if true!

I doubt we will find a font they used though. A digital computer font wouldn’t be much help to create these signs and so I doubt they exist. But maybe some designer will or has created a font like this inspired by those sign. That’s more likely.
