ott Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 This topic was imported from the Typophile platform Hi, I am working on Arabic web font using Fontlab, I just want to know how to Kerning arabic letters/characters in fontlab? Anyone knows can help me please? I have checked some well designed arabic fonts through FontLab and observer something like this "pos uni0632 uni0622 <-60 0 -60 0>;" what is the numbers refer to? and how I can generating and kerning arabic letters in fontlab?? Look forward to your help thanks
Bahman Eslami Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 You could use either Microsoft VOLT or FL 5.1 and with the latter you have to change the kern code, because fontlab doesn't generate kern for right to left scripts yet. but with VOLT it's pretty straight forward, just generate the font in fontlab and import it in VOLT. there is adobe arabic VOLT file that could demonstrate how it works: http://blogs.adobe.com/typblography/2007/06/adobe_arabic_sa.html
