jeroen Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Good evening everyone. My 'maiden speech' here. Well, actually just one simple question... A couple of years ago in a foreign bookshop I found a book about a correspondence between a Dutch fontdesigner and a related person. This book was written in English and upon this day I regret I didn't buy it then. Last week I went back to this bookshop and asked about this specific book, but they didn't have a single clue what I was talking about, also because of a lack of a title. What I can remember is that it was one of the more well known names of Dutch typedesigners (I assume still alive, so not Gerard Unger, for instance). In the book he and another man (?) discussed the fonts of the typedesigner. In my memory the book (mainly) had a blue cover. Pretty vague, I know, but does someone has any idea what the title of the book is and if it's still available? Thank you in advance!

jeroen Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 Thank you for your reaction. This book could be the one, but it doesn't ring a bell (yet). I don't want to offend someone, but the font Zilvertype is too 'old' for me, so I can hardly imagine that this subject would have drawn my attention (but my memory has fooled me more than once in the past). I'm more into this wave of Dutch typedesigners: Fred Smeijers, Martin Majoor and Lucas de Groot, among others, so I think it would be someone from this generation. But I'm not sure about anything anymore regarding my question...
Kevin Thompson Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Wim Crouwel: Alphabets? It has a blue cover, and is a conversation between Crouwel and art historian Kees Broos.
jeroen Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 Thank you for your reaction, Kevin, but Wim Crouwel is not the one. But you're right, it definitely has a blue cover... 😉
thomas gravemaker Posted January 23 Posted January 23 It's probably the correspondence between Jan van Krimpen and Stanley Morrison… 1
jeroen Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 Dag Thomas, dank voor je reactie. I'm sorry, but I don't think this is the one. I more and more start to believe that it could have been the book about the Zilvertype. But like I said, I'm more 'font of' of more recent fonts, so I'm not sure.
