Small Typography for Print

Hi People!

I am working on a personal project: A World History Timeline. It will be for printing. 

For this purpose, I am looking for fonts that are specially suited for good legibility in small sizes. 

Serif, and Sans-Serif. They don't have to belong to the same family. 

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Also, other than typefaces especially designed for small text, there are ones with optical sizes specific for different point size ranges.
