marcosdopico Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 This topic was imported from the Typophile platform Paul Renner followed the proportions of classicals Roman inscriptions for his capitals in Futura. Does anyone know any specific reference? An example for this classicals Roman, images, dates... thaks
Reed Reibstein Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I haven't had a chance to start it yet, but Christopher Burke's Paul Renner is likely to answer that question.
Charles Leonard Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Renner himself in his 1922 book "Typografie als Kunst." Before he did the first drawing for what would become Futura he said that all of European writing is based on Roman versals, that were themselves defined by the most basic and distinct of graphic forms; the circle, the square, and the triangle. Covered in my thesis. https://typography.guru/forums/topic/28165-forwarding
