ben_archer Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 This topic was imported from the Typophile platform My first reaction to seeing a book called Letter Fontein in the bookshop of the Graphic Design Museum in Breda on a study trip in February was to wonder when it might become available in English. It’s a reflection of the world we now live in that the book in question, printed in China by a German publisher, but authored and designed by a Dutchman, is available in my own language (and Spanish, French and German), a mere ten or twelve weeks later... Taschen offer a flick-through preview on their website at http://www.taschen.com/pages/en/catalogue/design/all/06770/facts.letter_... You can see bigger previews and find out more about the Dutch edition at http://www.letterfontein.nl/
ben_archer Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 So Hrant did you see a copy already? Some time last year Joep Pohlen put the text of the first 200 or so pages online at www.letterfountain.com. Also some tasty downloadable teaching resources (pdf).
hrant Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Thank you Ben! Wow. Impressive. And it is available in English? I think I read your original post in haste. The price isn't bad either... > a mere ten or twelve weeks later... I just hope they didn't use Google Translate, as much "entertainment" as that would offer. hhp
ben_archer Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 For those of you who are interested, Joep Pohlen has augmented the material at letterfountain.com with a couple of his recent lectures on type selection and classification athttp://www.letterfountain.com/extras_e.html Enjoy.
