BrettR Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 This topic was imported from the Typophile platform Originally I was going to give a nice little intro that leads into the forum topic about how the pen is mightier then God know what, but then I realized I am way to lazy to write that out... The question: What is your favourite pen/pencil/rock&chisel?
Riccardo Sartori Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Whatever is available at the time. Even a fork, if the paper at hand is soft enough to being incised.
BrettR Posted April 19, 2012 Author Posted April 19, 2012 Lately I have been a fan of the Lamy Pico, it is good for scribbling down details, plus it fits well in the pocket. Anyone fancy fountain pens?
Christopher Dean Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 *spits over his left shoulder* Punks. I rule.
russellm Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Parker P51 fountain pen, Hero 616 , excellent Chinese knock-off P51, Pentel brush pens and Faber-Castell Pit Artists pens
J.Montalbano Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Stiff crow-quill pen, india ink on Bienfang Graphics 360 paper. Shot to film negative where the edges are clean up with a #16 xacto blade and my custom made sanded down french curve. This technique was taught to me by Ed. Benguiat.
Christopher Dean Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Oh, and I used to make my own calligraphy pens by hand-carving popsicle sticks.
BrettR Posted April 19, 2012 Author Posted April 19, 2012 I saw this pen the other day, Bolt Action Pen. I chuckled when I saw it.
Christopher Dean Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Bolt schmolt. How ‘bout kung-fu calligraphy?
Christopher Dean Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Or, at 2:25, you can check out Dark Judge Brushes.
BrettR Posted April 19, 2012 Author Posted April 19, 2012 The worst part is, I watched the whole kung-fu video... twice.
Bert Vanderveen Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 The pen-tool in the iPad App ‘Paper’ produces wonderful swashes. That one is my favourite at the moment.
TurtleType Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Speaking of "old school" writing tools! First grader born without hands wins penmanship award
Nick Cooke Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Lamy Accent with oblique medium nib. So smooth, I love writing with it.
tmac Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 You can't go wrong with a Staedler Mars Technico. And I've been trying to get my chops up with a sable Mack Brush (Red Sable Lettering and Showcard Brush).
BrettR Posted April 20, 2012 Author Posted April 20, 2012 @Nick Cooke, I just bought that pen (except in black with silver rings and it is a ballpoint), absolute dream to write with. In general I enjoy Lamy's pens thoroughly. Probably the most beautiful of which is the Lamy 2000. It's the Scarlett Johansson of pens.
