Ed Buckingham Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 This topic was imported from the Typophile platform I have come up with a very unique font. I need help getting it off the ground. I know nothing about this. I will share in proceeds if there are any. Again, I am totally new to all of this.
John Hudson Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 In what country are you? If in the USA, you can obtain a Design Patent for a typeface design. Note that this is different from a Utility Patent. In other countries, similar protection is referred to as e.g. Registered Industrial Design. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_patent for more information. The easiest way to register a Design Patent is to employ a patent lawyer to file the paperwork, but you could presumably do it yourself if you find out from the US Patent Office what is required.
hrant Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Once you have a design patent and -hopefully- become assured that nobody will swipe your idea, do show it here to recruit a partner. hhp
George Thomas Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Free information on how to patent or copyright anything is available from the US Patent & Trademark Office. It gives detailed information on how to go about the process.
oldnick Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Not to nitpick, but…“unique” is like “pregnant”: either you are, or you aren’t. Nothing is “very unique”…
