Riccardo Sartori Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 I noticed that the number of institutions, conferences, and individuals that regularly produce type-related video content has increased lately. I don’t know if it deserves a spot in the directory, or a subsection of the video listing, but I think it would be handy having a list of typography related video channels. These are mostly on Youtube, but some are also on Vimeo or other platforms. Here is a first batch, feel free to add your findings: Typography.Guru, irregular short educational content. ATypI, videos of the talks from the annual conferences of the Association Typographique Internationale. Type Directors Club, various videos related to TDC’s activity. Type@Cooper, historical and educational videos. Typographics, videos from the newish New York City type festival. Thomas Jockin, in depth analysis of various typefaces. Typographische Gesellschaft München, various videos from tgm’s events (many in German as well as English).
Ralf Herrmann Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 The channel recommendation list of ATypI gives a good overview of what is on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3TabHJUsa2BkEkN_xSpMvQ/channels This also includes a few channels that are not in English. One of the best channels on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/user4747369 1

Ralf Herrmann Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 The connection should be obvious. 😉 2
Ralf Herrmann Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 By the way: a directory of video resources should probably also include courses people have on sites like Skillshare and Udemy. 1
Riccardo Sartori Posted January 23, 2019 Author Posted January 23, 2019 It could be a nice resource to have, providing it clearly marks what is freely available vs. what requires a purchase or a registration.
Ralf Herrmann Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 I wonder what selection criteria there would be. Should it list as much as possible or should there be some quality standards, which need to be met in order to be listed.
Riccardo Sartori Posted January 23, 2019 Author Posted January 23, 2019 Ideally, the latter. Realistically, what one can gather 😉 There could be a crowdsourced rating system, like on font lists' the entries.
Riccardo Sartori Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 An intersection of the two: TypeEd’s YouTube channel.
Riccardo Sartori Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 Here are the freely available courses from Skillshare based on keywords: typography, lettering. There are none on Udemy.
