The same font defaults to different style characters/glyphs in different software on the same machine

Why does the same font show different style characters/glyphs when in After Effects, Photoshop, MS Word or Powerpoint, compared to when in Illustrator or InDesign? (See attached example).
 

In this case the font is "Cochocib Script Latin Pro".  This is on the same machine, and it is definitely the same font being shown in all 4, just different glyphs (it offers only one style: "Regular").
