    The half title or bastard title is a page usually carrying only little information (like the title)—as opposed to the title page. The half title is usually the first page of the text block.

     

    French: faux-titre, avant-titre
    German: Schmutztitel
    Russian: авантитул
    Spanish: Portadilla
